What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. When you return, the browser sends it back, which is how a site can remember that you have been here before or that you dismissed a banner.

Some cookies are set by AKRI Technology, and some by third-party services we use, such as our website hosting and analytics providers. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, do the same job by different means. Where we use any of them, we treat them as cookies for the purposes of this policy.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They do not track you and they are not used for analytics or advertising.

Session cookie. Keeps your session consistent while you move between pages. Expires when you close your browser.

Consent record. Stores which cookie categories you have accepted, so we do not ask again on every page. Lasts six months, after which we ask again.

Security and load balancing. Set by our hosting provider to route requests and protect the site against automated abuse. Lasts for the session or up to one day.

These cookies are required to provide the website you asked to visit, so they do not depend on your consent.

Analytics

Optional, and only set if you accept them.

These tell us which pages are read, how long people stay, which pages lead to enquiries, and what proportion of visitors are on a phone. We use this to decide what to publish and where the site needs work. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to identify individuals.

Usage analytics. Records page views, referring site, approximate location from your IP address, and device type. Typically lasts up to thirteen months.

Declining analytics changes nothing about what you can see or do on this site.

Embedded content

Some pages may include material hosted elsewhere, such as a video, a map or a scheduling form. These providers may set their own cookies once the content loads, and we have no control over what they set or how long it lasts.

Where possible, we load embedded content only after you have consented, and we use privacy-preserving modes where the provider offers them.

Advertising

We do not currently use advertising cookies, conversion pixels, retargeting tags or social media trackers on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting any of them.

Managing your choices

On this site. Use the cookie settings in the footer to review or change your choices at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately.

In your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either entirely or by site, in its privacy or security settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

How long consent lasts

Six months. After that we will ask again. We will also ask again if we add a new category of cookie.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and any new category of cookie will trigger a new consent request.
